Preview: Chavez Titans vs. West Vikings
The Chavez Titans will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the West Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
While it was all tied up 31-31 at halftime, Chavez was not quite Mission Oak's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Chavez fell 60-50 to Mission Oak.
Meanwhile, West's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington Union. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The losing side was boosted by Fred Stokes, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. He scored a full 41.8% of West's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaiyon Dixon, who scored 11 points.
Chavez has fallen quite a ways from their 21-8 record last season and are now at 3-9. As for West, they have also fallen quite a ways from their 21-9 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Chavez didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against West in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 66-60 win. Will Chavez repeat their success, or does West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
