Baseball Recap: De La Salle Now 13-1 over Last 14 Games

It's playoff time, and De La Salle had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Pittsburg Pirates on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Graham Schlicht tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, De La Salle got a massive performance out of Alec Blair, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Blair has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Antonio Castro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

De La Salle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittsburg only posted an OBP of .355.

De La Salle is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Pittsburg, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 19-6 record.

Looking ahead, De La Salle will square off against Petaluma at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.1, the Trojans 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Pittsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
