            Softball Recap: Livermore Cowboys vs. Monte Vista Mustangs        
        
		
        
        
            Livermore had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 14-8  on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Monte Vista Mustangs  a   7-0 shutout. The Cowboys not only won  on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win  since April 10th (when they won  10-0).

 Kaci Norton tossed a big game,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowing only  one  hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in April.
 On the hitting side,  Laine Macosky was  excellent,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  runs and one  stolen base. That  stolen base marked the first that  she has  snagged this season. Another player making a difference was  Kerigan Coates, who  went 1-for-4 with one  home run.
 Livermore  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least ten  hits in five consecutive  matches.
As for Monte Vista, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record  this season. While getting shut out isn't ideal, they haven't been shut out since  back in March.
 On Monte Vista's side,  Samantha Kaiman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Kaiman has been consistent: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in eight consecutive appearances.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Livermore will  challenge  rival Dougherty Valley  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Cowboys' favor as the  team sits on five straight wins at home while the Wildcats have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Monte Vista is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Granada  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
