Baseball Recap: Saranac Spartans vs. AuSable Valley Patriots

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Saranac had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the AuSable Valley Patriots with a sharp 10-1 win. Saranac might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Adrian Barnes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Barnes has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Barnes was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Zack Lucia was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Clancy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Saranac and bumps their season record up to 13-6. As for AuSable Valley, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

As of now, neither Saranac nor AuSable Valley have any future games scheduled.
