Football Recap: Elmont Memorial Comes Up Short + How To Watch

While it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, Elmont Memorial was not quite Wantagh's equal in the second half on Saturday. They were beaten by the Warriors 35-7. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Warriors are ranked 38th).

Wantagh found their leader in freshman Luke Martini, who rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Martini really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. Another player making a difference was Joe Nicholson, who gained 136 total yards.

Elmont Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Wantagh, the win (which was their ninth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Coming up, Elmont Memorial will take on Manhasset on Saturday. As for Wantagh, they will challenge Hewlett at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
