Volleyball Recap: River Valley Raiders vs. Meigs Marauders
River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Meigs Marauders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
While River Valley had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19.
Meigs was led to victory by Marlee Laudermilt and Bella Roush. Laudermilt had 23 digs and four aces, while Roush had four aces. The dominant performance also gave Roush a new career-high in aces.
River Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Meigs, the win snapped their losing streak at 12 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-11 record.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Gallia Academy the next time they take the court. Meigs will head out to face Gallia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while River Valley will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
