Softball Game Preview: Valley Cavaliers vs. Vinalhaven Vikings

The Valley Cavaliers will head out on the road to challenge the Vinalhaven Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Valley nor Vinalhaven posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

North Yarmouth Academy hit Valley with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cavaliers lost 10-1 to the Panthers. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Vinalhaven suffered their biggest defeat since May 28, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against Buckfield, falling 17-2. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vinalhaven's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Valley took their win against Vinalhaven in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 25-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
