Softball Recap: Chattanooga Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Chattanooga Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Red Bank Lions 12-5 on Monday. The Pounders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Navaeh Frank made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 11 hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Carli Morgan was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Sanaa Townsend was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Chattanooga Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Chattanooga Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Red Bank, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga Central will venture away from home to challenge Signal Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chattanooga Central is facing Signal Mountain at the right time seeing as Signal Mountain is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Red Bank, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Red Bank Lions challenge Hixson Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
