Baseball Recap: Coconino Wins Going Away Against Bradshaw Mountain

Coconino made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bradshaw Mountain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 12-1 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Ezra Merrell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Coconino is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-11-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Corbin Derr was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Coconino: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 4-11-1 otherwise. Ty Sevier was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Coconino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Coconino's record now sits at 8-12-1. As for Bradshaw Mountain, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

Coconino will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
