Baseball Recap: Raymond/South Bend Takes a Loss

Raymond/South Bend made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ocosta, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Ravens fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Ravens in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Nolen Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Preston Toepelt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Raymond/South Bend's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Ocosta, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raymond/South Bend will square off against Chief Leschi at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ravens are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Ocosta, they will take on Naselle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Comets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
