Softball Recap: Barnesville Takes a Loss

Barnesville fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Perham on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 9-8. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Barnesville has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Perham, they pushed their record up to 5-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Barnesville will take on Park Rapids at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Perham has already played their next contest (against Goodridge/Thief River Falls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
