Baseball Game Preview: Pontotoc Warriors vs. Cleveland Central Wolves

For the second straight game, Pontotoc will face off against Cleveland Central. The Warriors will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Wolves at 4:30 p.m.

Pontotoc is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Cleveland Central get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Warriors not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 10-0).

Corbyn Clayton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Braxton Whiteside was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Luke Blanchard, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Cleveland Central moved to 9-13 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak. As for Pontotoc, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-10.
