A District 4 recap Oct. 23, 2012

Wilson's Tanner Hartman recorded the longest rushing play in A District 4 this season in his game against Bray-Doyle last week. Hartman scampered for 52 yards on the play and finished with 160 on the day as his team beat the Donkeys.

Ringling extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Empire, 42-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Velma-Alma's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Comets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ty Richardson has thrown for 538 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Checotah Lynn has 13 catches for 201 yards. Dallen Mercer leads the league in rushing with 672 yards.

A big matchup in A District 4 this week will be when Velma-Alma takes on the Bulldogs. The Comets are currently in third, while Empire is in second.

Ringling made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,115 from 5,602. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-14 victory over Tony Roberts' team last week.
