Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Millry

Millry waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the University Charter Trail Blazers, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 20th.

Lilly Doggette made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Doggette wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Scarlet Kirkland, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Millry's win bumped their record up to 20-6. As for University Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millry will welcome Southern Choctaw at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.84 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for University Charter, they will face off against Hale County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
