Softball Game Preview: Glen Rock Panthers vs. Hawthorne Bears

Glen Rock is 9-1 against Hawthorne since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will take on the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Glen Rock fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Emerson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hawthorne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Ridgefield Memorial get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Wednesday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

Hawthorne's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Glen Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Glen Rock took their win against Hawthorne in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 11-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
