Soccer Game Preview: Timberland vs. Philip Simmons

Timberland hasn't had much luck against Philip Simmons recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Wolves will take on the Iron Horses at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Timberland took a four-goal loss the last time they faced off against Woodland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Wolves never let the Wolverines get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for Timberland as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Avery Thames, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Philip Simmons faced Waccamaw in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Iron Horses had just enough and edged out the Warriors 2-1. Winning may never get old, but Philip Simmons sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Philip Simmons' win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Timberland, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 7-9.

Timberland might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Philip Simmons in their previous matchup back in March. Can Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
