Basketball Recap: Bishop Walsh Takes a Loss

Bishop Walsh lost against Mountain Ridge back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bishop Walsh Spartans were beaten by the Mountain Ridge Miners 72-20. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-13.

Mountain Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trenton Diamond, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Diamond a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kris Washington, who went 8 for 11 to rack up 21 points.

Bishop Walsh has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

Coming up, Bishop Walsh will be playing at home against Hyndman Charter School at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Walsh is facing Hyndman Charter School at the right time seeing as Hyndman Charter School is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out to face off against Keyser at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Mountain Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.
