Basketball Recap: Arkport Central Comes Up Short

Arkport Central extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 58-34 to the Jasper-Troupsburg Wildcats. The Bluejays lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in December of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-10 score last time.

As for Jasper-Troupsburg, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. That 24 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Jim Ainsworth continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11-for-18 to rack up 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Landon Zver, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and five assists.

Looking ahead, Arkport Central will challenge Addison at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Jasper-Troupsburg, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-58 win against Bolivar-Richburg on the 9th.
