Baseball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Waupaca

Waupaca lost to Clintonville back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Comets came out on top against the Truckers by a score of 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Cael Prey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Dolski, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Waupaca is 3-1 when Dolski posts two or more runs, but 5-12 otherwise. John Zeamer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Waupaca's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clintonville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.

Coming up, Waupaca will be playing in front of their home fans against Wittenberg-Birnamwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clintonville, they will venture away from home to take on New London at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
