Baseball Recap: Waldron Takes a Loss

Waldron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the Morristown Yellow Jackets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 last Saturday.

Jordan Bennett put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Bennett was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Waldron is 2-1 when Bennett posts three or more hits, but 3-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, J.D. Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Jackson Kuhn was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Morristown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.

While Waldron had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
