Basketball Game Preview: Calumet Copper Kings vs. Ishpeming Hematites

The Calumet Copper Kings will head out to square off against the Ishpeming Hematites at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Calumet is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Calumet came up into this matchup off a tough 45-point loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Gwinn by a score of 37-35 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Copper Kings have suffered since January 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ishpeming posted their biggest win since January 6th on Friday. They blew past Manistique, posting a 69-33 victory. The Hematites have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Calumet's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Ishpeming, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.

Things could have been worse for Calumet, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-38 loss to Ishpeming in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Calumet avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
