Basketball Recap: Bruce Takes a Loss

Bruce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 61-33 loss at the hands of the Lafayette Commodores. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-49 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Bruce still got an impressive performance from A'Toria Knox, who went 8 for 18 en route to 25 points and six rebounds. That was a full 75.8% of Bruce's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Bruce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Bruce's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10. As for Lafayette, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bruce has already played their next contest (against Calhoun City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lafayette has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against West Point.
