Baseball Recap: Heights Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Heights had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Topeka Trojans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Jack Aaron made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. He has become a key player for Heights: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kasch Oakley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Heights' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 9-11 when he doesn't). Carter Smith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Heights is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Topeka, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12-4.

As of now, neither Heights nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
