Baseball Recap: Hampton Roads Academy Find Success

Hampton Roads Academy's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors by a score of 7-3. The Navigators haven't had any issues with the Ambassadors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Paul Bennett-Northam looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Hampton Roads Academy's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Graham Hutchens and George Kokolis did most of the damage at the plate: Hutchens went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Kokolis went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Kokolis has posted since back in March. Sam Overman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Hampton Roads Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Norfolk Christian, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton Roads Academy will welcome Christchurch School at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Navigators are facing the Seahorses at the right time seeing as the Seahorses are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Norfolk Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against StoneBridge at 4:30 p.m.
