Basketball Recap: Pamlico County Takes Down Clover Garden School in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Pamlico County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victor by a 62-40 margin over the Clover Garden School Grizzlies on Tuesday. The Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Nya Clark continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 13-for-16 on her way to 29 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in field goal percentage (81%). Kyliyah Barber was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 11 points along with six steals and five assists.

Pamlico County was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clover Garden School only five assists.

Despite the loss, Clover Garden School saw an underclassman step up: freshman London Hairston posted seven points in addition to nine rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Carly Little, who put up six points and five boards.

Pamlico County pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for Clover Garden School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-9.

Coming up, Pamlico County will face off against Roxboro Community at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Roxboro Community will roll in looking for their 21st straight victory, something Pamlico County surely won't give up without a fight. Clover Garden School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
