Football Game Preview: Wellsboro Hornets vs. Troy Trojans

The Wellsboro Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Troy Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Wellsboro is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Athens just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 35-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Wellsboro might have lost, but man, Marek Mascho was a machine: he picked up 140 receiving yards and one score, and also threw for 49 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Troy entered their tilt with Wyalusing Valley on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Rams, posting a 49-14 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 29 points or more this season.

Wellsboro's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Troy, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Wellsboro was dealt a bruising 50-20 loss at the hands of Troy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Hornets were down 30-0.
