Basketball Recap: Malakoff Now 15-2 over Last 17 Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Malakoff duked it out withWinona on Tuesday. The Malakoff Tigers' defense stepped up to hand the Winona Wildcats a 2-0 shutout. The two-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Malakoff has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for Winona, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, Malakoff and Winona will both be playing Eustace the next time they take the court. Malakoff will head out to face Eustace at 6:10 p.m. on Friday, while Winona will head out to face them at 6:10 p.m. on January 14th.
