Baseball Recap: South Hills' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but South Hills unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Beckman Patriots by a score of 3-2.

South Hills got a good showing from Nicolas Munoz, who struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Munoz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, South Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Guerrero, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Richie Soto also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

South Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Beckman, they pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, South Hills will face off against Newport Harbor at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 3.3, the Sailors 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Beckman, they will take on South at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
