Basketball Recap: Norwich Takes a Loss

Norwich lost against Seton Catholic Central back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Norwich Purple Tornado fell 87-74 to the Seton Catholic Central Saints. While losing is never fun, the Purple Tornado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Saints are ranked 27th).

Allan Eagles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seton Catholic Central, going 11 of 16 on his way to 28 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Eagles has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Dempsey, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points.

Norwich's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Seton Catholic Central, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Norwich will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oneonta at 7:45 p.m. on February 7th. As for Seton Catholic Central, they will welcome Chenango Forks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
