Softball Recap: Rustburg's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Rustburg posted their closest win since March 21st on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Amherst County Lancers 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Red Devils: when they faced off against the Lancers on April 4th, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

Laila Bigham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rustburg's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nahla Bigham, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Rustburg's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-5. As for Amherst County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.

Coming up, Rustburg will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Brookville at 7:00 p.m. As for Amherst County, they will head out to square off against Broadway at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
