Recap: Garfield Bulldogs vs. Birmingham Patriots
The Garfield Bulldogs and the Birmingham Patriots squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Garfield Bulldogs had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a rough 49-7 loss at the hands of the Patriots. Garfield's defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Damian Cabrera threw for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Jayden Barnes was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground,
Damian Cornejo rushed for 71 yards.
Birmingham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dredon Fowles led the charge by rushing for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Ronnell Hewitt also helped out as he racked up 174 rushing yards.
Garfield's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Birmingham, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Garfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Birmingham will head out on the road to face off against Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
