Basketball Recap: Junction City Bluejays vs. Blue Valley Northwest Huskies

On Tuesday, the Junction City Bluejays faced the Blue Valley Northwest Huskies in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Junction City came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 60-53. The win was nothing new for Junction City as they're now sitting on three straight.

When it comes to explaining why Blue Valley Northwest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joey Matteoni. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. Jake Fritz was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and two steals.

Junction City's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Blue Valley Northwest, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2.

Junction City will take on the Trojans at TBD on Friday. Topeka is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Blue Valley Northwest, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Lee's Summit North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 67th in Missouri, while the Huskies are ranked fifth in Kansas).
