Basketball Recap: Emma Teuner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Morgan over North Branford

If Morgan was riding high fresh off their 60-15 takedown of Valley Regional last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Morgan Huskies fell to the North Branford Thunderbirds 56-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Huskies came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 93rd).

Morgan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Teuner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. Teuner is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Passante, who posted 15 points.

Even though they lost, Morgan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Morgan moved to 12-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for North Branford, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Morgan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-31 win against Cromwell on the 4th. North Branford has also already played their next match (against Haddam-Killingworth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
