Volleyball Recap: Coastal Academy Takes a Loss

Coastal Academy lost against Calvin Christian last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Stingrays fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 3-2.

Coastal Academy took Calvin Christian into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 16-14.

Miranda Rustrum paced Coastal Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Rustrum got some help from Delaynie Harris and her 24 assists. Harris was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Calvin Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucy Gordon, who had six kills and five aces. Kaidance Katje was another key player, getting seven aces and one assist.

Coastal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Calvin Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Coastal Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Guajome Park Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Calvin Christian will square off against rival Escondido Adventist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
