Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Eva Cruz and Kociencki Sam Leads Point Loma over University City

While Point Loma put up some points on Tuesday, the same can't be said for University City. The Pointers took down the Centurions 16-0. This was payback for the Pointers, who suffered a 13-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Point Loma found their leader in sophomore Ella Poulin, who threw for 159 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 35 yards.

Point Loma didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited University City to a completion percentage of just 26.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Madison Dudley and Alexa Avila-Aguilar, who each logged one passes deflected. Point Loma wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 60.6%.

Point Loma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Eva Cruz and Kociencki Sam.

The win got Point Loma back to even at 2-2. As for University City, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Point Loma will face off against Hoover at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University City, they will head out to take on El Cajon Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
