Volleyball Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. Barrington Eagles

The Classical Purple will square off against the Barrington Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Barrington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Classical, who comes in off a win.

Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cranston West, who was ranked 20th at the time (Classical was ranked third). The Purple put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 3-0 win on Friday.

One reason for the win was Classical's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-19, 25-6.

Meanwhile, Barrington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Tolman, falling 3-0.

While Barrington ultimately came up short, they really made Tolman work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 27-25, 25-23.

Barrington's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Classical, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Classical took their victory against Barrington in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Purple repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
