Baseball Recap: Jordan Drops Season-High Score on Morton Ranch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jordan). They blew past the Morton Ranch Mavericks 14-5 on Friday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Eduardo Buroz looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Luis Vera and Jackie Bryant did most of the damage at the plate: Vera went 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI, while Bryant went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Bryant is becoming a predictor of Jordan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Henry Surcouf, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Jordan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.6.

Jordan's record is now 11-7-1. As for Morton Ranch, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jordan beat Morton Ranch by a score of 13-3 on Tuesday.
