Baseball Game Preview: Paxton Bobcats vs. Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Paxton Bobcats challenge Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paxton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Paxton will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Laurel Hill on Monday. Paxton came out on top against Laurel Hill by a score of 10-5.

Phillip Bearden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Colby Vaiyanet was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Clete Moore, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Donelson Christian Academy and South Walton, and South Walton kept the tradition alive. Donelson Christian Academy lost 18-8 to South Walton on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Seahawks: they've now lost five in a row.

Paxton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Donelson Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Paxton might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Donelson Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2016. Can Paxton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
