Basketball Recap: New Hanover Wildcats vs. Richmond Raiders

New Hanover and Richmond squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but New Hanover had to settle for second. They fell to the Richmond Raiders 48-44. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-35 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, New Hanover still got an impressive performance from Brianna Stanley, who shot 44% from the field en route to 18 points. Stanley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Justine McCague was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Jamyia 'Juicy' Lindsey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Richmond, shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 25 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Lindsey has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Brown, who put up six points.

New Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 21-9. As for Richmond, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 22-5.

New Hanover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Richmond, they will face off against Wakefield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wakefield will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Richmond surely won't give up without a fight.
