Softball Recap: Nolan Catholic Comes Up Short

Nolan Catholic had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-18 to make it seven. They lost 10-3 to the Parish Episcopal Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 last Wednesday.

Brenna Frasier was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Parish Episcopal, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

On Parish Episcopal's side, Olivia Waterhouse ?28 was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Waterhouse ?28 has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Phoenix Jordan ?29 was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Adelia DeFriend ?28 was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nolan Catholic will square off against Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Parish Episcopal, they will take on Liberty Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
