Baseball Game Preview: Woden Eagles vs. Joaquin Rams

The Woden Eagles will head out to square off against the Joaquin Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Woden is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Shelbyville just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons.

Chireno hit Joaquin with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams fell 8-4 to the Owls. The Rams have struggled against the Owls recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Brennan Kilpatrick put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Kilpatrick was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Karson Rogers was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carter Graves, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Joaquin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Woden, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Woden got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Joaquin by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
