Softball Recap: Saugerties Comes Up Short

After flying high against New Paltz on Wednesday, Saugerties came back down to earth. The Sawyers fell just short of the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sawyers of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Saugerties saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stefanie Cogswell, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

With the loss, Saugerties broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-3. As for Guilderland, the victory also got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Saugerties will face off against Our Lady of Lourdes at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Sawyers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Guilderland, they will challenge Averill Park at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
