Baseball Game Preview: James Monroe Mavericks vs. Bluefield Beavers

The James Monroe Mavericks will square off against the Bluefield Beavers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

James Monroe fell victim to Wyoming East and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Mavericks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

James Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Gardinier, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Bluefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against WestSide, falling 15-1.

James Monroe's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for Bluefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
