Soccer Game Preview: Olympia vs. Riverton/Tri-City

For the first time this season, Olympia will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Riverton/Tri-City Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Olympia is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Meridian/Sangamon Valley on Friday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw.

Elyse Eimer and Raquel Birky scored both of Olympia's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverton/Tri-City). They skirted past Warrensburg-Latham/Maroa-Forsyth 1-0. The game was the first time Riverton/Tri-City have beaten Warrensburg-Latham/Maroa-Forsyth on their pitch since March 28, 2017.

The victory made it two in a row for Riverton/Tri-City and bumps their season record up to 2-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. With that draw, Olympia's record moves to 2-3-1.

Olympia beat Riverton/Tri-City 2-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
