Basketball Game Preview: Cottonwood Bears vs. Providence Christian Eagles

The Cottonwood Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Providence Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cottonwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Geneva County by a score of 43-32.

Meanwhile, Providence Christian had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.1 points) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They breezed by the Tigers to the tune of 71-27. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Tigers are ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Providence Christian's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for Cottonwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Cottonwood suffered a grim 70-44 defeat to Providence Christian in their previous meeting back in January. Can Cottonwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
