Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Anthony Chavers and Reed Sims Jr Lead Mckinley to Victory

McKinley won the last time they faced Lake and things went their way on Friday too. The McKinley Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 62-47 victory over the Lake Blue Streaks. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 415th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading McKinley to victory were Reed Sims Jr and Anthony Chavers. Sims Jr went 6 for 9 on his way to 22 points, while Chavers went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Davey Thompson, who posted five points.

McKinley's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Lake, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

McKinley will welcome Washington at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Washington's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. As for Lake, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-38 loss against Cuyahoga Falls on the 18th.
