Preview: Atlanta Rabbits vs. Winnsboro Raiders
The Atlanta Rabbits will head out on the road to face off against the Winnsboro Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Atlanta got the win against Tatum by a conclusive 42-22. Atlanta pushed the score to 42-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Tatum cut but never quite recovered from.
Atlanta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Riley out in front who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Atlanta also got help from Markeylin Batton who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Winnsboro put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Bonham for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-6 victory at home. Given Winnsboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Bonham is ranked 1060th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Atlanta's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5. As for Winnsboro, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.
Atlanta ended up a good deal behind Winnsboro in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 28-14. Can Atlanta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
