Softball Game Preview: Lyman Greyhounds vs. Oviedo Lions

For the first time this season, Lyman will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the Oviedo Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Lyman and seven for Oviedo.

Lyman fell victim to Lake Howell and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Silverhawks, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, Oviedo lost 16-6 to East Ridge on Tuesday.

Avery Madden was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Tinberg, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Lyman's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Oviedo, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.

Lyman's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Greyhounds have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Oviedo, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lyman continue to outrun the ball?

Lyman couldn't quite finish off Oviedo when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Greyhounds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
