Meanwhile, SouthLake Christian Academy hadn't done well against Hickory Grove Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 12-4 victory. Considering the Eagles have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hayden Blair made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Blair was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Sydney Stoddard was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Sherard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
SouthLake Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Gaston Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, their record now sits at 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gaston Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like SouthLake Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gaston Christian might still be hurting after the 16-5 loss they got from SouthLake Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can Gaston Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
