Recap: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. Fairmont Golden Tornadoes
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Laney, the Ashley Screaming Eagle were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They managed a 40-34 victory over Fairmont.
Leading Ashley to victory were MacKenzie Morton and Alaina Boos. Morton scored 13 points, while Boos scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Boos pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaeden Hudson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Fairmont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taniya Simms. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Simms has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played.
Ashley's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Fairmont, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Ashley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Mecklenburg at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th. Fairmont won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Laney at 12:00 p.m. on December 29th. Laney is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
